August is approaching and we know what that means – HKCC Country of Origin Tournament!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday, 24 August from 2pm is when the action unfolds.<\/strong> Sign up to play whether you have a full team already or looking to join one! #COO2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Closing date for entries is 20 August<\/strong>. Thereafter, match schedule and further details will be sent out to all team captains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team Criteria<\/summary>\n

Each team should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. have a maximum of 10 players registered<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. contain a minimun of 2 females players (2 females on the pitch at all times)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. contain players from, at a bare minimum, the same continent as the country they are playing for<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. have a minimum of 2 junior or youth players (12-18years)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. try, where possible from players origin, include a minimum of 1 (one) new recruit<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Teams could have a maximum of 2 (two) visiting players from another club in Hong Kong<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

    Rules (click to expand)<\/summary>\n

    1. 6 Players on the pitch at a time, GK optional (if playing with GK, they should be fully kitted)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. If there is no GK, teams play with 6 outfield players (no kicking back allowed)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Min 2 females on the pitch at all times<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Min 4 players on pitch to start the match – we’ll be running on a tight schedule so please be ready<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Central time keeping will be kept – please listen for horn<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Subs can be made at any time throughout the game<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Games will be 12 min one way with a 3 minute change over. Should we fall behind, game duration will be shortened<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    8. For safety reasons, no hitting at all, including tomahawks. Sweep (forehand & backhand) push, overhead etc all allowed. Overheads can be received above shoulder<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    9. Female goals count for 2 goals during the game. Only 1 goal is counted for the Top Goal Scorers list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    10. ANY potential goal stopped intentionally by players foot\/body etc will result in a penalty goal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    11. Where no GK is present, ball has to hit the backboard in order for the goal to count. Where GK is present, net goals can be scored.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    12. Score from inside the yellow football box<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    13. Standard HKHA & FIH hockey rules apply, 3m rule instead of 5 m<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    14. No short corners will be played, free hit outside the box – ball to travel 3m before entering box. Intentional ball out the back line will result in an uncontested shot (push, sweep, hit, aerial) from the halfway line (No GK or defenders in goal)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    15. 3 points for a win, 2 points for a score draw, 1 point for a scoreless draw, 0 points for a loss<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    16. Where points are tied, GF will decide the higher finishing team. If still tied, GA will be taken into account<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    17. Round-Robin results may end in a tie. Knockout ties will be resolved with an uncontested shot (push, sweep, hit, aerial) from the halfway line (No GK’s or defenders in goal). 3 players from each team. If still drawn after the 1st round, sudden death shootout will apply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    18. We have arranged for umpirers to assist with the afternoon games. Teams may still at some point be required to assist with umpiring games – no umpiring qualification required<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    19. Umpires decision is final – please be a good sport and just get on with it<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    20. PLAY FAIR, BE A GOOD SPORT AND HAVE FUN!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

      As per tradition, it is a fancy dress, so get creative, but make sure you can still pull off your moves on the pitch. Prize for the best dressed country!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Remember to also sign up for the post-COO recovery session<\/a> at the HKCC Boundary Bar from 7:30pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
